Graceful was a project I completed in my New Media Digital Survey II class during my first year at RIT. The goal was to choose a word from a list, and create animated typography that captured the essence of that word. After choosing the word “graceful”, I illustrated a soft, pastel background reminiscent of the night sky, flowing curtains, and the ocean, and animated the word frame-by-frame as if it were being written in cursive across the illustration.

One of the first things that comes to mind for me when I think of what “graceful” means is figure skating, a sport I’ve been doing for almost my whole life. I implemented this into the design as well, as seen by the largest part of the background, which looks like ice that’s been skated on.
